One More Push!!
Last Critical Vote for Skate Park Design/Build on Monday June 4th!
MONDAY CITY COUNCIL WILL VOTE to proceed with a full Design/Build process. There will be people at this meeting that claim that the project should be done by local designers/local builders only and we know they don't exist.
What you can do...
1. Sit in on the Committee Vote - Be There!
This is the BEST thing you can do...
Monday June 4th 10:00 AM - Room 217
Cleveland City Council at City Hall 601 Lakeside Rd Cleveland, OH
Bring photo ID so you can get in quickly.
This is the FIRST vote on the issue and is the make-or-break for getting this project on this year's construction schedule. Be prepared to hang out for a few hours until they vote. This is a peaceful presence we need to be there to see it through.
2. Come to City Council Meeting in the Evening
If it passes the Committee Vote (above) City Council will vote to pass the legislation. We need to support Cleveland's Future against those who would keep it in the past.
Monday June 4th 7:00 PM - Rooom 218
Cleveland City Council at City Hall 601 Lakeside Rd Cleveland, OH
Bring photo ID so you can get in quickly.
3. Write/Call/Email Cleveland City Council Members
Ask that they support the Design/Build Skate Park project. Be courteous and supportive of our city.
- Do not waste tax dollars on another mistake - Design/Build is the way to go.
- Do not miss another year of construction.
- Be proud and thank them for moving this along!
Why should you care?
Since last August, the City has embarked on a new process for building the Crooked River Skate Park. Upon finding the challenging soil and water table conditions, the City began work to approve a full Design/Build process for the park. This was always the ideal way to go but getting Design/Build projects in big cities like Cleveland is very hard due to years of laws preventing it.
Help Make the Change NOW
Monday the City will vote to approve a full Design/Build process that would allow skatepark builders to be fully engaged for the Crooked River Skate Park. If approved, the city has already prepared documents to invite the greatest design/builders (Grindline, Team Pain, Dreamland, Wally Hallyday, California Skateparks etc) to win the bid for this project. The City has taken great interest in ensuring that the winning design/build team has the experience and skills to make the Crooked River Skate Park the best park it can be.
What about the current Design?
The current conceptual design will be maintained as much as possible but will undergo plenty of engineering and adjustments to make a solid skatepark within the site we have next to the river. If you are interested in helping maintain the design, please contact us or just reply to this email. We haven't had any meetings regarding design changes yet.
What if it doesnt pass?
We will miss out on the entire 2012 construction season and we are back to waiting until next year.
